Afternoon Tea with Debbie Halls-Evans @ Bolton’s Mini Food Fest!

Hello People,

Hope you’re all well and enjoying the positively delicious weather. It’s good to be out and about and if you were wanting to catch some rays AND indulge in a thoroughly fabulous foodie event, you’d better get yourselves down to Bolton’s Middlebrook Retail Park at the end of this month.

It’s a four day shindig from 31st July to help launch and support Bolton Council with their big Bolton food and drink festival (slated to occur over the August bank holiday weekend).

Now, being a Lancashire lass, the highlight for me, of this “Mini Bolton Food Fest” is the appearance of a fellow northerner who also just happens to be an awesome chef. You may have seen her do her thang on TV and hold her own against crazy Ludo and Nigella Lawson.

Yup, that bonny Bolton lass Debbie Halls-Evans will be hosting her Afternoon tea demos on Thursday 31st July and Friday 1st August at 11.30am and 2.30pm, but tickets need to be booked ASAP as they’re limited. And you know you’d be totally disappointed if you didn’t get to see this particular maestro work her magic in the kitchen for a bargainous price of £5. That’s less than the price of two cups of coffee. Debbie will teach her audience how to cook Bacon and Maple Breadsticks served in a dip shot glass, Cinnamon Palmiers with Hazelnut Cream or Viennese Whirls with Chantilly Buttercream and Fruit Compote. I’m a sucker for pastry and cannot wait to see how one makes perfect Chantilly Buttercream.

Debbie will also hold free baking sessions for the little uns, where kids can learn to make Rainbow Cakes – Raspberry and Spinach or Chocolate Garbage Cake. (These lessons sound so darn good, I’m tempted to join myself.)

There’ll also be a tonne of market stalls, the bulk of which are food related, how cool is that? Even local businesses from Horwich town centre can’t keep away, with appearances from The Salad Bowl, Bengal Cottage, Sarah-Jane’s Cakes, Ruby Rose, Sunset lighting and The Body Shop. And if that wasn’t enough to tempt you out of your house, stalwart support should do the trick from Luciano’s, Chiquito’s, Bella Italia and M&S. So, for food tastings and cooking demonstrations galore, do swing by.

Where is all this fabulous fun happening again? It’s all going down at the Middlebrook Retail Park. I’m in the middle of sourcing more photos, as soon I get them, I promise to update this post. I’ll be there for this Mini Food Festival – will you..?
