Manchester House is home to a rather glorious Rémy Martin pop up this week. I attended the launch for this pop-up yesterday at Manchester House which was fun and informative. Brandy is one of my go-to tipples, which is why I couldn’t wait to learn more about Rémy Martin and its history.

With members of the media in attendance (including the lovely Sabi and Cheshire Life), we were seated in the luxe Lounge Tower 12 eagerly awaiting an entertaining afternoon. As we marvelled at the mercurial Mancunian weather (morning rainstorms had prompted me to wear my long warm coat so I felt more Yeti than Greek goddess), we sipped delicious Rémy Martin cocktails whilst admiring the wonderful skyline.

Fashion and Rémy Martin cocktails go hand in hand. Whilst we enjoyed an expertly made Rémy Martin cocktail, we perused cloth swatches from Scabal and Richard Smith strewn across tables.

After an introduction to the lovely May, who gave us a rundown on the history of Rémy Martin, the origins of the brand and vision of the future, we were invited to test our taste-buds. May showed us how to understand and taste the various base notes, through an unrushed, illuminating process.

To help with the tasting and accentuate the flavours (warming cinnamon, sticky honey and fruity fig were just a few to mention), there awaited a table of delectable treats. This included a wodge of Parmesan, honey, macarons, chocolate, and much more.

As we floated around the table sipping Rémy Martin XO and nibbling these tasty treats, certain flavours popped with vigour, in particular, the English fudge. You really got a hit of soft caramelised fudge on the swallow, and a lovely whisper of vanilla on the inhale.

The Rémy Martin pop-up is a great way to get to know more about your favourite drink, whilst socialising in the remarkable setting of Manchester House.

As mentioned here last week, La Maison Rémy Martin is the private member’s club that opens once a year as a pop-up in the heart of Soho. Spreading its wings to fly up north, Rémy Martin will be treating discerning drinkers to a host of delectable treats during its Manchester House residence. Nightly talks, informative workshops and the chance to sip brandy and learn more about one of the most famous brands in the world is what you can look forward to.

La Maison Rémy Martin Manchester House will be accessible for members only. You know what you have to do – to apply for membership please contact [email protected].
