Book review: We Solve Murders by Richard Osman, Nicola Walker narrator
Richard Osman is everywhere, from the telly (Pointless, House of Games) to books (The Man Who Died Twice, The Bullet That Missed, The Last Devil To Die).
Despite his seeming omnipresence I have never read any of his books… until now.
I tried numerous times listening to The Thursday Murder Club, but with limited success.
I guess the audiobook just didn’t work for me, I will attempt reading this book, just because fellow bibliophiles say it is a must-read.
Back to We Solve Murders and the plot, off the bat is a cutesy thriller with an unlikely duo.
Widower Steve Wheeler who likes his life ‘just so’ and his creature comforts, leads a normie existence.
We Solve Murders by Richard Osman
Daughter-in-law Amy Wheeler is a private security officer who gets embroiled in a transatlantic conspiracy involving influencers who are winding up dead.
As far as duos go, they’re regular people you’d meet down the pub.
We have to believe that the somewhat staid couple have gumption to solve murders, as they become reluctant heroes, keeping one foot firmly terra firma, dipping the other into the glitzy world of celebrity and James Bond spy thriller territory.
I listened to this book on Audible and I enjoyed Nicola Walker’s narration.
The actual content was decent, but I am not overly enthusiastic about reading the next in the series.
Fans of Richard Osman will enjoy this book.
I have a giant reading mountain, so other books will take priority for me, I will however try to get into The Thursday Murder Club at some point though.
